EARLY YEARS (AGES 3-5)
At Amity Global School Noida, our Early Years Programme is grounded in the philosophy that young children are capable, curious, and competent learners. We provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children learn through play, inquiry, exploration, and meaningful relationships. Rooted in the principles of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP), our approach nurtures the development of the whole child academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and creatively.
How We Learn in Early Years
Learning in the Early Years is driven
through inquiry and organized around four Units of Inquiry (UOI) each
year, aligned with the transdisciplinary themes of the International
Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. These units support both horizontal
progression within grades and vertical progression across grades, ensuring a
coherent and developmentally appropriate journey of conceptual understanding.
Our programme is built around key elements that define how young children learn best:
Inquiry-Based Learning
We foster an environment where children’s questions are valued and encouraged. Instead of giving children direct answers, our teachers encourage them to ask questions and investigate topics on their own; For example, if a child asks why the leaves fall from trees, guide them in exploring the answer through observation, books, or nature walks.
Play-Based Learning
Play is central to learning in the Early Years. Through play, children explore ideas, express themselves, solve problems, build relationships, and develop essential skills in joyful and meaningful ways. Our learning environments are designed to encourage curiosity, choice, creativity, and active engagement.
At AGS Noida, Children learn through:
- Hands-on materials and interactive learning centres that
promote exploration and discovery
- Open-ended questions that encourage thinking, inquiry, and
problem-solving
- Experiments and investigations that nurture curiosity and early
scientific thinking
- Storytelling, role play and pretend play that develop
imagination, empathy, and language
- Exploratory play that supports questioning, investigating, and
critical thinking
- Provocations and inquiry invitations that spark wonder and
inspire deeper engagement
- Indoor and outdoor learning experiences that encourage
movement, exploration, and connection with the environment
- Games and physical activities that build coordination,
resilience, and collaboration
- Rhythmic experiences that support auditory processing,
movement, and cognitive development
These experiences encourage children to make choices, take initiative, and engage deeply in their learning. Through play, children develop physical, cognitive, social, and emotional competencies while building confidence, independence, and a lifelong love for learning.
Relationships that support Learning
Strong relationships are at the heart of
our Early Years programme. Positive connections with peers, educators, and
families create a caring environment where children feel secure, respected, and
confident to take risks in learning.
Through these relationships, children learn
to:
- Communicate and collaborate
- Build friendships
- Regulate emotions
- Resolve conflicts
- Develop empathy and social awareness
Expression through many Languages
We believe children make meaning and
communicate through many forms of expression.
Our programme values symbolic exploration
through:
- Art, Music and Movement
- Sensory Play
- Field Experiences, Nature Walks and Outdoor Exploration
- Dramatic Play and Storytelling
- Reflection Spaces and Calm Corners
These experiences allow children to
represent ideas, express emotions, and deepen understanding in creative and
meaningful ways.
Developing Independence and Agency
As part of nurturing the whole child, we
support children in becoming increasingly independent, responsible, and
confident learners. We believe young children develop agency when they are
given opportunities to make choices, take ownership, and actively participate
in their learning.
Children develop agency through:
- Consistent daily routines that build security, confidence, and
independence
- Embedded life skills experiences within everyday learning that
help children develop responsibility, decision-making, and practical
independence
- Self-management skills such as focus, perseverance, following
routines, and emotional regulation
- Care for their environment through organizing materials,
tidying up, and taking ownership of shared spaces
- Opportunities to make choices and take action in their learning
and play experiences
These experiences help children develop responsibility, resilience, and confidence as capable learners.
Enriched Learning Experiences beyond the
Classroom
Our Early Years learners benefit from a
rich and balanced programme that extends beyond the classroom through
specialist-led and experiential learning opportunities.
Children engage in:
- Dance, Music, Art and Pottery
- Physical Education and movement-based learning
- Social-emotional learning experiences
- Sensory and Math Labs
- Jive and Frolic Studio and Sports Studio
